I am the savior of waterlogged books

So once, as an adorable and precocious child, I dropped a book into a lake, and convinced my dad that not only did I need that book, but I needed that exact, somewhat damp, copy. So my dad got the book from the polluted, Blinky infested, opaque waters, but by that time the waterlogged book was totally unreadable, which absolutely ruined my weekend, which I in turn ruined for the rest of my family. Because I'm charming!

If I had but known that wet books can be saved by freezing, I would have probably been less of a jerk. At that particular moment. Probably not overall.

  1. Charming, indeed. Who wouldn't have been Ed Crankshaft after a weekend's promised reading had been so rudely destroyed?

  3. I am totally dropping the ball and even CLOWNS are laughing at me. Why does the deleted post thing have to be permanent, do you have a remedy for that too? I hope to never be in the situation of need today's advice, but I'll be sure to thank you if ever I am.

  4. Holy Crap on a Cracker. That's brilliant! I drop books in the bath, the pool, once I dropped one in a sink full of dishes.

I usually put them out in the sun to dry and that only works half the time. But now... now I have THIS!

  5. That's like in THE BOOK THIEF!

If only that freezer rule worked for everything...

  6. I accidentally dropped THE BIBLE in the crapper once, at church. Yes, so embarrassing. I was waiting for the lightening bolt in the stall for like 10 minutes.
    That definitely ruined my day!

  7. I'll have to remember that the next time I drop a book in the lake. I don't think that method would work with the Kindle though.

  8. I'm forever getting my books wet in the bathtub. If one takes the full plunge, I'll know what to do! I'd die a little inside if I had to throw one of my books away.
