I'm with HH -- hated the book, think the movie looks like an improvement. (Except for the "boo-hoo I can't fit into my size 0 jeans guess I'll have to start cutting the tags out of size 2s" moment. Bleah.)
what happen when you talk too fast (and too often) and force evolve English by combining words to abbreviate. Combreviations are dogs, bred to be likable, useful, and friendly, while most words come out of the natural selection of English. Sure, they may not be the fittest, but damn if everyone doesn't love them.
I have to say, I haven't read the book yet, but the movie looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely hated the book - I found Elizabeth Gilbert to be a fairly odious woman. But - it looks like a better movie than it was a book.
ReplyDeleteIt looks good.
ReplyDeleteAnd now I want pasta for dinner.
It looks horrible. I didn't read the book, but I hate that woman, whoever she is, and I hope in the end she catches some wasting disease.
ReplyDeleteHarsh, Anonymous, harsh. But I agree.
ReplyDeleteLaura - where have you gone? I need Combreviations to provide a distraction from tracking all of our April books...!
